Toddler Power Hour
Who is it for?
We gear our program toward children ages 18 months - 4, focusing on the “pre-preschool set”. Our material is typically focused on the 2-3 year-old level.

Do I drop my child off for Toddler Power Hour?
This is a program for children and a parent or caregiver. Because of the young age of our students, each parent or caregiver is required to stay during the program. We have found that the parents also benefit from spending quality time with their little one while mingling with other parents and their children.

What are the hours and days of the program?
We currently have 2 sessions from which to choose.  Session 1 meets on the 1st and 3rd Monday from 10am to 11am.  Session 2 meets on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday from 10am to 11am.  Please see the "Registration and Calendar" link to see specific dates.

How long does the program last?
We run two different semesters – a fall semester and a spring semester. Each semester has 8 classes. The fall semester begins in September and ends in December. The spring semester begins in January and ends in April.

Are siblings welcome?
Yes, younger siblings (generally babies) are welcome to attend with their parent or caregiver and enrolled student at no additional cost. We have "grandmother" volunteers available at each class to keep an eye on your littlest one while you spend quality time with your toddler. If you have any questions about bringing other children to the program, please feel free to talk to our teachers.

How much does Toddler Power Hour cost?
Our class fee is $25 per semester per child. This fee covers all materials, crafts and snacks. We ask for payment by or at the first class.

Do I have to be a member of your church in order to enroll?
Our program is open to everyone regardless of their affiliation. Because we believe strongly in teaching Christian principles to children, we do have Bible stories and often Christian-themed crafts at our classes.

What do the children do at each class?

Music Activity (Large Motor Skills, Music Appreciation, Listening, Singing): At each class we have a number of activities involving music. The students learn basic songs to sing, and they also dance and exercise to the music. They will learn about music concepts by playing instruments. All music activity is led by our teacher.

Bible Story (Listening, Comprehension, Spiritual Growth): The Power Hour class has as its focal point a Bible lesson.  Our teachers present the lesson using a variety of methods including dramatic play and felt board stories. The children are encouraged to listen and respond to each story.

Snack:We provide a snack during class time. This snack time not only nourishes the students (and parents), it also provides another learning experience as the students sit together at a table and interact socially during this time.

Art (Fine Motor Skills, Creativity): At each class the students participate in an art activity; art projects are a mix of crafts and exploration art projects.  The students are encouraged in their creativity and individualism while learning to use markers, crayons, glue, paint, stickers and other artistic mediums.

Activity (Large Motor Skills): Large motor skills are honed during our activity time. Each class has a different large or small group activity that includes ball throwing games, bean bag activities, scavenger hunts, tunnel crawl, parachute or the limbo stick, to name a few.

Discovery (Sensory or Science Exploration): The Discovery Center is a relatively new addition to Power Hour.  In small groups the children do sensory activities or simple science experiments. The students are encouraged to get very "hands-on" in this session.
